This book is less about Bigfoot and more about the people who search for it. Leiterman's text is a massive tome that covers the efforts of a small group to locate and document the location in Northern California where Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin shot their famous 1967 footage of a Bigfoot creature at Bluff Creek.

I was not directly involved in Leiterman's project, and I do not know him personally, but I was at the Bluff Creek Film Site during the span of time covered in this book (2011 - 2013), and led a small archaeological dig of the site in July 2013. Leiterman and Streufert's research helped me tremendously, and the book meticulously lays out their data for others to scrutinize.

When I first visited the Patterson-Gimlin Film site in August 2011, it was before their field work had really confirmed where the film site was located; but stepping up over the sandbank, seeing the big tree and other landmarks, there was no doubt in my mind that Leiterman/Streufert and the other team members had gotten it right. If you're interested in Bigfoot, this book will appeal to you, but you should be warned that it's not really about the search for Bigfoot.

That said, if you're one of those few remaining holdouts who doubts Leiterman's research, you're doing yourself a great disservice by not reading this book. The data is all there, supported by maps and site surveys, and while the team has conclusively proved the location of the Patterson-Gimlin Film, the verdict is still out on whether or not the creature in the film is real.
